Villa Kaniksa is magnificently located at the water edge, with unobstructed views over the Lombok Strait. Whilst the property provides on the one hand completely secluded and private relaxation, it is just walking distance from the Jalan Raya, the main road through Candidasa, with its quaint collection of artisan shops, grocers, restaurants and lounge bars. Less than 200 meters on the left, fishermen returning from their nightly trips collect their catch for dispatch to the local markets. The same distance on the right, one can observe the village children bathing and playing in the lotus pond at sunset. Right in front, a sheltered bay provides beautiful and safe snorkeling all day long.

Accommodation

Villa Kaniksa is a brand new, sea-front villa and one of the best situated and equipped properties along the east coast. It has been designed and built in traditional Balinese style, with wooden beams and typical ‘alang alang’ roofs. Furniture and decorations were carefully selected to match the exterior, yet providing a unique and distinctive flavor. Virtually all pieces were locally designed and hand made.

Villa Kaniksa is an oasis of tranquility and understated luxury, located directly at the Lombok Strait, providing a unique ambiance in one of the best settings in East Bali.

Bedrooms

There are 4 large, self contained bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom and soaking bathtub. The 2 suites at the front both have king size beds, spacious walk-in closets and a private terrace looking out over the sea. The master bedroom covers 25m2 and is equipped with a large 2.40m x 2.20m four poster bed.

The bedrooms at the back are identical, measuring 20m2 each, and like the suites have large size bathrooms with bathtub and shower facilities. One of the rooms has a king size double bed, the other twin beds. There are 2 full size rollout beds available if additional capacity is required.

All bedrooms have been equipped with 32 inch LCD screens and DVD player, for which a selection of movies (including children’s), in various languages, is available free of charge. Likewise, all rooms come with AC and safe deposit boxes.

Living/Dining Room

The living area covers some 70m2 and was designed as an open space, in order to fully enjoy the unobstructed views over the Lombok Strait, the cooling sea breeze and the gentle noise of the waves. Sliding windows provide instant protection against the elements or when additional privacy is needed. The high roof, made in traditional Balinese style, adds to the spacious feel, while 2 hanging fans provide relief on hot days.

The living room comes with a 32 inch LCD TV with satellite and DVD, as well as a stereo set with iPod connection.

The dining area boasts a massive wooden table, locally made, that can seat 10 people. With the sea on one side and a fish pond on the other, it provides the ideal ambiance for a perfect meal.

The entertainment area at the far end of the room is suitable for traditional dance performances, which can be organized by our staff.

Swimming Pool

From the living room as well as the 2 suites, steps lead into the landscaped garden towards the infinity pool, measuring 15m x 4m and overlooking the sea. Next to that is a 2m x 2m jacuzzi, seating 4 persons. The 6 sun beds on the paliman stone terrace complete the picture of an idyllic relaxation area.

Sea Terrace

This is a unique feature of Villa Kaniksa, providing splendid ocean views and, via specially made steps, direct access to a sheltered snorkeling area in front. The sea terrace has a floor of volcanic stone, sourced locally, with on the one side a seating arrangement and 2 additional sun beds, ideal for breakfasts and afternoon teas. On the other side there is a distinctive lounging area, gazebo style, with carved-out seats, which is the perfect spot for sunset cocktails or a romantic dinner. A floodlight, situated on the roof, lights up the sea at night and adds to the unique atmosphere that Villa Kaniksa provides.

Food and Beverages

Villa Kaniksa guests are provided with a complimentary breakfast. Western meals are available, but the staff will also be very happy to prepare local Balinese dishes for a unique cultural experience!

Dinner parties and small functions can all be catered within the villa for a group of maximum 10 (staying) guests, or up to 30 for cocktails or buffet meals – please ask the chef or manager for more details, whether you are requesting breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks.

Spa Services

Massage, body scrubs, facials, pedicures, manicures are just some of the spa treatments which can be provided in various onsite locations (for example, on the Sea Terrace). A full range of treatments are also provided by outside spa providers. Once you are in residence please ask the villa staff to assist you to make appointments.

Babysitting

Babysitting services can be provided on request. Currently the rate is IDR 50,000 (USD 6)/hour. Please note that these charges will be added to your final bill. No payments are to be made directly to the staff.

Transportation

Car rental (with or without driver) can be arranged after your arrival. Motorbikes are also available for hire. Please contact our staff to arrange for this. Airport pick-up, at an additional charge, can be arranged in advance through the booking form.

Activities

Villa Kaniksa is an excellent home base for exploring the unspoiled and tranquil area of Eastern Bali – with its dramatic scenery, unspoiled beaches, excellent fishing, magnificient underwater coral reefs and WWII shipwrecks for world-class diving and snorkeling, river rafting, and tropical forests and beautiful rice terraces for viewing and photographic pleasures. Other opportunities include viewing local Balinese Hindhu temples, as well as seeing a very authentic form of life and reknowned artistic craftmanship in the Balinede Aga village of Tenganan.

East Bali is the mecca of scuba diving and snorkeling and some of the island’s top sites are close to Candidasa; just offshore from Villa Kaniksa, Gili Tepekong can be reached in only 10 minutes by boat. In addition, there is some excellent rafting to be done on the Telaga Waja river, about an hour and a half away, reachable via magnificent mountain roads providing unobstructed views over the lush green paddy fields of East Bali. The port of nearby Padang Bai provides shelter for yachts and is the starting point for ferries to Lombok and its famous Gili Islands, as well as smaller boats to unspoiled Nusa Penida.

For family entertainment there is a host of options, from easy snorkeling in one of the nearby marine reserves, or even just in front of the villa, to the famous Bali Safari and Marine Park half an hour drive away. Even swimming with dolphins, off the coast near Sanur, is a possibility. Just minutes away, Pantai Putih is a stunning white sand beach in a beautiful setting, providing easy and safe swimming opportunities.

Depending on your preferences and requirements, the number can be increased or decreased, or working times can be adjusted, so as to guarantee a level of comfort and privacy geared towards your individual needs.

In order to secure your reservation, we will need a deposit of 50% of the total cost of your stay. This can be done either through bank transfer or Paypal. All bank charges are to be borne by the guest.

When paying through Paypal, an additional charge of 4% applies. The balance 50% is payable at check-in at Villa Kaniksa and can be paid in cash (USD or Indonesian Rupiah only) or Mastercard/Visa, unless agreed otherwise upfront. For USD cash payments we can only accept current series, whilst for all cash payments only notes in clean and good condition will be accepted. Where relevant, daily local exchange rates will apply. Credit card payments will include a surcharge.

Garden, Pool, and Chill-out Areas

The entrance to the Zen-inspired property leads guests past an ornamental pond into a walled garden dominated by a 23-metre swimming pool, which is bordered by flat lawns punctuated with palms and frangipani trees. The spectacular pool extends the length of the garden and features a wide, deep channel for swimming laps, in addition to stepped levels that allow guests to sit, lounge or lie in the water without actually having to swim. Four poolside cabanas – actually modern translations of traditional Balinese ‘bale’ relaxation pavilions – appear to float upon the surface of the water. Each bale is fitted with a yielding mattress and sheltered from the sun by white roller blinds and a white Sunbrella canopy. Located in the centre, with two bales on either side, is a large bubbling, open-air Jacuzzi. Indeed, the theme of The Aqua is total relaxation, and everything has been designed around the comfort of the guests. Another restful seating area can be found at one end of the pool, where an external staircase leads to the sunny rooftop level.

Barbeque

A black terrazzo outdoor buffet table complete with barbeque grill, offers a facility for alfresco party dining.

Steam Room

The large walk-in steam room is located in one corner of the garden. Big enough to accommodate four people, it features a frosted glass door, bench seating, a non-slip white granite floor, and creamy-white Palimanan stone walls extending into a arched ceiling.

Party Room

Accessed from the garden via solid sliding wood doors, the soundproofed party room is ultra private, spacious, windowless and cool. The air-conditioned room is equipped with ceiling fans and a wall-mounted, 39-inch, LCD flat screen satellite TV, together with a DVD player and a quality sound system with surround sound speakers positioned on the ceiling. It is furnished with large upholstered sofas and corner units, a coffee table and built-in shelving. A black terrazzo and teakwood bar is positioned at one end, adjacent to a guest washroom. Mirrored detailing adorns the white walls, lights are recessed into the ceiling, and there is plenty of floor space for dancing. With no fear of disturbing the neighbours, this room presents a wonderful party facility and can comfortably accommodate 20-30 guests.

Kitchen

The modern and compact, fully-equipped kitchen is located out of sight at the rear of the property, yet close to the dining pavilion for ease of service. It contains all of the facilities that the staff require for the preparation of delicious meals, innovative buffets, and party snacks.

Bedrooms

Each of the four air-conditioned bedrooms is accessed by floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, and each is furnished with a queen-size bed and built-in bedside cabinets, funky lamps, white wardrobes and drawers. Two of the bedrooms are located on ground level and two are located on the rooftop level. Embracing fresh white walls, cool creamy-white terrazzo floors, soft grey and white furnishings, and an abundance of space and natural light, the urban chic decor is a study in progressive minimalism. Each bedroom is linked to its own spacious bathroom, fitted with a large terrazzo soaking tub, twin washbasins, and a glass frosted cubicle housing a toilet and an indoor rain shower. Additionally, three of the bedrooms incorporate an open-air, garden rainshower; each shower is centrally positioned between the bedroom and the bathroom and is accessed on either side by clear glass doors. Each bedroom is equipped with a safe deposit box, a Bose iPod sound dock, and ceiling fans in addition to the hidden air-conditioning units. There is a satellite TV connection in three of the bedrooms, and a TV can be provided upon request.

Rooftop terrace and sundeck

On the rooftop level, fringed by pink flowering bougainvillea, a large open-air terrace is fitted with a huge 2 x 4-metre daybed, which is sheltered by a pergola dripping in red passion flowers. An open-air walkway winds around this upper level, girded by a glass wall and backed in places by banded wooden screens, with daybeds located at various intervals. A sunny timber deck, with a shallow ornamental pond on three sides, presents a great place for sunbathing with the provision of four large sun-mattresses. In this peaceful, elevated spot, guests will feel on top of the world.

The splendid Sanur Residence comprises nine bedrooms encompassed within three self-contained buildings set side-by-side in a spectacular beachfront location on Bali‘s south east coast. The residence is an ideal venue for weddings, parties and events. The expansive terraced garden, set against the stunning backdrop of the Balinese coastline, is the perfect spot for saying “I do”. The accommodation designed for families and groups of up to eighteen people. The three individual buildings share a number of common facilities including the garden, the 23 x 6.5-meter swimming pool, and a communal dining room serviced by a commercial kitchen where an internationally trained chef and his team cater to the culinary whims of the guests in 5-star fashion.

The Sanur Residence is characterised by contemporary tropical architecture, an abundance of light, huge aluminium-framed picture windows, broad balcony-terraces, and a crisp white decor. Each 2-storey building accommodates up to six people. All three buildings boast different features, but each includes three bedrooms with en-suite marble bathrooms, a living room and dining room with a table for six, a fully fitted kitchen, additional sitting areas and spacious terraces. The beautiful landscaped garden – complete with reflective ponds, flat green coastal lawns and a romantic relaxation pavilion – is bordered by rice fields, sweet corn and tobacco plantations, and bounded by papaya and banana groves. The property blessed with dramatic views of the coastline and the ocean, stretching all the way from Sanur to Mt Agung in the east. The glorious sunrises in this part of Bali are legendary, and can be enjoyed from the terraces of all three of the buildings that comprise the residence. In the early mornings, the mysterious towering sea cliffs of the neighbouring Nusa Penida Island will be bathed in a warm pink glow. The beach is just 50 metres away and is good for surfing and safe for swimming. It is accessed via a path through the rice fields, and boasts a private timber deck for the use of guests at the residence. From here it is fun to watch the local fishermen going out every day in their colourful jukung outrigger boats.

Every room in the Sanur Residence is air-conditioned and guests also have the option of ceiling fans. Entrances are flanked by ornamental pebble-lined ponds and protected by solid doors that swing open into the cool interiors. Upstairs and downstairs, folding glass doors open onto a plethora of terraces, allowing the cool sea breezes to permeate. Dark wood finishes are complemented by white quilt covers, white soft furnishings and colourful local artwork. Every bedroom features a timber floor and is equipped with a TV with local channels and DVD player, in addition to top quality King Koil mattresses, a telephone, safe deposit box, and an emergency button. Every master bathroom is fitted with a Jacuzzi tub, shower, hairdryer, shaver mirror, electrical shaver socket, and a thoughtful array of shampoo and bath products.

BUILDING NO. 1

Building No 1 is the westerly building of the residence. The open-plan Living Room, Media Room & Dining Room is furnished with a comfortable L-shaped sofa, a nestle of coffee tables, a dining table, and a flat screen satellite TV and DVD player and music system. The stylish, dark grey floor is composed of non-slip, burned granite. An alternative cosy Sitting Area overlooks the gardens and view.

The integrated Kitchen is fully equipped with an electric hob with a stainless steel hood, an abundance of fitted cupboards, a black marble work surface, a family-size stainless steel refrigerator, microwave, toaster and wine rack. There is also a walk-in storeroom. A powder room with basin and toilet is located next to the open staircase.

The Master Bedroom situated downstairs, furnished with a dark wood queen size bed, a lazy chair, bedside tables and a rug; folding doors open into the garden. The light and airy en-suite marble bathroom features twin washbasins, a coffee and cream marble floor and vanity unit, mirrors, white walls, and a ribbed marble floor that forms the base of the rain shower behind a glass partition. An oversize Jacuzzi bathtub is set in marble beside a big frosted glass window. A dressing area next to the bathroom boasts fitted wardrobes with frosted glass doors and a full length mirror.

Bedroom 2 is located upstairs and is furnished with twin beds with leather headboards, fitted wardrobes, and a comfy cushioned sofa. Glass doors open onto a short timber deck with a swinging bench seat. The en-suite marble bathroom is fitted with a shower cubicle behind a glass door, toilet and washbasin. Frosted glass doors slide open to reveal a sunken Jacuzzi tub, shared with the bedroom next door.

Bedroom 3 furnished with a queen size bed, and incorporates a small library with a desk. The en-suite bathroom is a mirror version of the bathroom adjoining Bedroom 2, and once again frosted glass doors slide open to reveal the sunken Jacuzzi tub, shared with Bedroom 2. A precious feature is the huge 5 x 7-metre sunny lava-stone tiled Terrace, accessed from both bedrooms, which are also blessed with wonderful views of the sweeping coastline, Nusa Penida Island, and the neighbouring rice fields.

A unique feature of Building No. 1 is the light and airy basement, which incorporates the Main Dining Room with eight individual tables that can be joined together to create one large table if required. The terraced landscape ensures that even at this level, guests can enjoy the view. Glass doors on three sides open up to create a semi-open air dining experience. There is also a wine cellar and an adjoining powder room with basin and toilet. This dining room is located next to the Full Service Kitchen that caters for the whole residence.

BUILDING NO. 2

Building No. 2 is the centre building of the residence, and is characterised by a cream polished granite floor. It features a raised Dining Area furnished with a richly grained coconut shell dining table and chairs by the Bali-based Italian designer ‘Carlo’. The Kitchen is located to one side. It is very similar to the kitchen in Building No. 1, complete with a breakfast bar and high seats.

Four steps lead down to the Living & Media Room, which furnished with two exquisite soft leather sofas and a matching ottoman. A 42-inch plasma screen TV, DVD player provided for the entertainment of the guests. Kids will enjoy sitting on the yielding beanbags. More glass doors open up onto a terrace with a daybed. Bedrooms 2 & 3 are both located downstairs, and furnished with queen size beds and fitted wardrobes and share bathroom.

The Master Bedroom, located upstairs, flanked by another generous Terrace, which can also be accessed from a glass door located halfway up the open staircase. This breezy hangout is a great spot for enjoying the sunrise. No expense has been spared with the furnishings of the sumptuous master bedroom. The bed is comprised of a pair of twin beds, and a living area furnished with a coconut shell table by Carlo, sofas, a fridge, and a penshell cabinet. Part of the terrace features a small wooden sundeck furnished with chairs and big umbrella and accessed from the sitting area. The huge en-suite bathroom is fitted with ‘His & Hers’ washbasins, a rain shower and toilet at one end and a Jacuzzi bathtub at the other end. Large picture windows overlook a rural scene; and open air spaces above the bath and shower ensure a constant airflow.

BUILDING NO. 3

Building No. 3 is the easterly building of the residence, and is characterised by a dark, burnt granite non-slip floor. The Dining Area with a table for six is located next to a wooden deck sheltered by a pergola. The kitchen is very similar to the kitchens in Buildings Nos. 1 & 2, and is located to one side. The Living Area is central, furnished with a large bamboo daybed facing the ocean view.

This is the only building with a separate, self-contained media room – a cosy Home Theatre with a 60-inch screen for projecting movies and satellite TV channels. The room furnished with a sofa, beanbags and shelf units.

Bedrooms 2 & 3 are accessed from halfway up the stairs; Bedroom 2 is furnished with twin bed and a futon. Bedroom 3 has a queen size bed and sofa. Both feature en-suite bathrooms linked by a Jacuzzi bathtub in the same layout as Bedrooms 2 & 3 in Buildings Nos. 1 & 2.

The wide Terrace is accessed from a door on the next level, and is encompassed by a low wall planted with lush green foliage. This terrace can also be accessed by seven steps leading down from the Master Bedroom on the top floor. This master room boasts a sitting area with library and an extended coconut shell desk by Carlo, fitted along the length of one wall. More coconut shell and mother of pearl bedside shelves by Carlo flank the queen size bed. The cream marble en-suite bathroom is similar to the Master Bathroom in Building No. 2 with the addition of the bathtub access, which is in the form of a small bridge traversing the bubbling pebbles of an ornamental pond. Windows on three sides of the Jacuzzi tub take in the awesome view; the modesty of the guests is protected by the provision of blinds.

Garden and Pool

The garden beckons guests to laze in one of the many relaxation areas with a book, or perhaps a cocktail while watching the fishermen and the surfers. It is dominated by an enticing 23 x 7-metre pool, above which rests twin reflective ponds on a slightly higher level. The ponds are filled with crystalline chlorinated water around twin central sections filled with fresh water and lilies. Twisting tri-coloured frangipani trees overhang the timber deck beside the infinity-edge pool, which appears to overflow into the rice fields. On the lowest terrace, raised above the rice field, is a sunken bale relaxation pavilion, facing the view, complete with built-in cushioned seating and a rustic table.

Furnished with a canopied king bed and boasting a dressing area and a sitting area with cane sofas and chairs, it is blessed with a wonderful vista of the Indian Ocean and coastline stretching from the Bukit Peninsula to Canggu. The ensuite semi open-air bathroom is fitted with a single washbasin, a walk-in monsoon shower, bathtub and toilet. There is also an open-air deck at the front of the bedroom – accessed via glass doors, or from the balcony that runs alongside –furnished with all-weather rattan sofas.

Bedroom 5 is a huge room with a timber floor and soaring roof. Furnished with a king bed and featuring a sitting area, it also offers magnificent views of the ocean. Kitchen

The open-plan feature kitchen at Villa LeGa is conveniently positioned next to the dining area, linked by a marble-topped service bar. It is fully equipped with an imported oven, three-burner hob, a microwave, and designer appliances including a toaster and espresso/cappuccinomachine. There is also a large fridge and a good selection of utensils and quality tableware. This immaculate kitchen is where the staff will prepare hearty breakfasts, and is also for the use of the guests if required. All other meals are prepared by the staff in the main service kitchen at the back of the property.

Swimming pool & garden

Surrounded by a wall, the neat, flat garden is dominated by a 12 x 4 metre swimming pool with a timber deck on three sides, furnished with sunbeds and umbrellas. The deck is partially shaded by the overhanging roof of the house. Four ancient frangipani trees drop their fragrant blossoms and there is a stone carved mural of galloping horses along one wall. The serene scene is completed with water cascades and ponds

Food and Beverages

Villa LeGa offers a dining service with groceries charged at cost. There is a suggestion menu, and guests will need to provide some money in advance so that the staff can do the grocery shopping, with receipts provided for reference. The cook can prepare anything from snacks up to four-course dinners, or other requests as required. Western meals are available, but guests are also recommended to sample some of the local Balinese dishes for a cultural experience. The cook will strive to fulfill any special dietary requirements. All beverages are charged per drink, except for wine which is charged by the bottle.

Food and Beverage Charges

Food and beverage items are charged based on grocery cost system. Guests will need to provide some money in advance and the staff will do the shopping for you and keep the receipts for your reference. Food items and beverage are charged at cost price. Please ask your manager if you wish to check your daily expense.

Large Dining Groups

Spa Services

Guests at Villa LeGa can enjoy a Balinese massage (at extra cost) in the privacy of the villa or poolside within the garden. Traditional Balinese massage is a remedy that has been used by Balinese villagers for many generations to relieve muscular aches and pains and boost circulation after long days of toiling in the rice fields. Using a blend of flower oil and selected herbs, hands-on healing techniques are applied with a combination of skin rolling, gentle palm pressure, long kneading strokes, acupressure and reflexology. Massage treatments are provided by a professional outside spa therapist, and the staff are on hand to assist with appointments.

Location

Villa LeGa is located right next to the beach at Batubelig, a safe upmarket area close to Petitenget and Seminyak on Bali’s south-western coast. This is the most visited part of the island for both tourism and business purposes, and is home to some very classy properties.

Tucked away down a quiet sandy lane, the gates of the villa open to the sweeping beach, renowned for its panoramic views and world-class surf breaks, although the rip currents can make it a bit dangerous for swimming here. The sunsets are legendary and a delight to watch from the villa’s upper terrace, or from the rustic warung (eatery) beside the beach.

About Villa Joss in Seminyak

Completed in August 2010, the contemporary Balinese architecture of Villa Joss features a living room and dining room pavilion, a four bedroom pavilion, an entertainment room and business centre, and an open air ‘bale’ lounge pavilion in the spacious gardens with a 16-metre swimming pool and outdoor Jacuzzi. The architect’s other work can be seen in some of Seminyak’s finest venues including Ku De Ta. Villa Joss is named after the owner’s daughter.

The fine art traditions of Bali have been highlighted with care in Villa Joss. Upon entering the main gate, guests are greeted by a stone relief carving of Balinese Gamelan musicians which dates back to the Majapahit Kingdom’s retreat from Java to Bali in the 1500?s.

The original carving is found in one of Bali’s oldest temples, Pura Dalem in Desa Singepadu Tengah, and was reproduced at Villa Joss by a family of artisans from Batu Bulan, the most famous stone-carving village in Bali. The gorgeous entrance to Villa Joss involves a covered walkway bordered by lotus ponds with Koi fish; all draped in a hanging garden of green vines leading up to a serene seated stone Buddha set against a cascading waterfall. The bedrooms and living spaces of the 4 bedroom Villa Joss showcase beautiful fine art paintings and limited-edition litho prints by some of Indonesia’s best-known artists. Each bathroom features a stone relief carving detailing different aspects of the main temple carving inside the main gate.

The walled garden and graceful interiors offer an abundance of space, natural light and separate places to relax. Children can enjoy a BOSE surround sound movie on the 48? flat screen TV in the entertainment pavilion while one group of adults enjoy some reading in the living room, and another group of adults lounge, surf the internet or watch sports on the 45? flat screen TV in the garden ‘bale’. The pool deck is punctuated with big pots of flowering lotus. The interiors of the villa have been lovingly furnished, accented with colour and completed with delightful attention to detail.

The owners have made every effort to employ ‘Green Friendly’ technologies in the construction of Villa Joss including low energy lighting and a combination of solar and low energy convection water heating systems. Similarly, with the exception of certain high end imported fittings and equipment that were not available in Indonesia, every effort was made to use local materials and craftsmen. All furniture was locally made in Bali and Java.

Accommodation

There are four bedroom suites with polished teak floors and cabinetry in the two-storey sleeping pavilion. Three are furnished with king size beds and one with twin beds (which can be put together with a specially designed top mattress). Each has an ensuite bathroom, as well as a spacious dressing area with plenty of hanging space. Each bedroom is equipped with a 42” satellite-channel flat screen TV plus a DVD player (upon request), air-conditioning, ceiling fan, safe deposit box and WiFi internet connection. Master Bedroom Suite

The Master Bedroom Suite is located on ground level with sliding glass doors opening onto a covered terrace beside the swimming pool. It is accented in green and gold with a warm teakwood floor and a large bright painting by Made Gunawan of the Elephant God – Ganesh – surrounded by elfish characters dancing and playing. This spacious bedroom is furnished with a king-size ornately hand carved four poster bed with white shear curtains, copper bedside lamps and a 42” satellite-channel TV positioned on a matching cabinet. There is a spacious seat at the foot of the bed and a teak cabinet dressing area with plenty of hanging space.

Joss Bedroom Suite

The Joss Bedroom Suite also sits on the ground level with a teak wood floor and sliding glass doors opening onto a covered terrace beside the swimming pool. The room presents a fun and flamboyant colour scheme with a red lacquered cabinet, matching red lamps and the striking ‘Made Pejeng’ oil painting by the renowned artist Krijono. It features a hand carved four-poster bed draped in white shear curtains – and pink shears are available upon request to thrill any princesses staying in the Joss Bedroom Suite! There is a cushioned bench at the foot of the bed, a 42” satellite-channel TV and a teak cabinet dressing area with plenty of hanging space.

Mount Agung Suite

The Mount Agung Suite is the upstairs master, with a teakwood floor, a green theme, and sliding glass doors that open onto a delightful shared balcony offering big sky views of Bali’s carefree kites flying over the treetops. The section of balcony immediately outside the bedroom is furnished with a table and four chairs, making it a lovely spot for breakfast. The room has a king-size bed with matching cushioned bench, side tables with white woven aluminium bedside lamps and is equipped with a 42” satellite-channel TV. The “Odalan” oil painting on the wall by Atjeng wall features a colourful Balinese beachside ceremony – much like those guests can enjoy during their stay in Bali. There is also a large dressing area with plenty of hanging space.

Batubelig Suite

The Batu Belig Suite is also located upstairs, accented in gold and copper, with a teak wood floor and sliding glass doors that open onto the shared balcony. The balcony is furnished with a comfy upholstered sofa and chairs, and offers views of the greenery and rooftops of Batu Belig village. This bedroom offers the facility of twin beds (which alternatively can be joined with a specially designed top mattress) and a 42” satellite-channel TV positioned on a matching dark wood cabinet. The “Ke Pura” oil painting by Maria Tjui features a beautiful Balinese temple ceremony. There is also a large dressing area with plenty of hanging space.

Ensuite Bathroom

All four spacious ensuite bathrooms are fashioned in non-slip marble floors with matching polished marble walls. All are fitted with walk-in monsoon showers, large washbasins on polished black granite vanity units (twin washbasins on the ground floor) and large format toilets. Each of the two downstairs bathrooms feature a spacious indoor section with floor to ceiling glass walls looking out to a private outdoor garden shower area. Each of the downstairs bathrooms also feature a huge bathtub carved out of a solid block of marble, as well as two showers – one indoors with views of the private garden, and one shower under the sky in the open-air garden courtyard with high walls for privacy and a pebbled floor planted with heliconias and giant taro.

Living Area, Swimming Pool & Jacuzzi

The air-conditioned living and dining pavilion is framed in a soaring timber-lined roof with beautiful exposed beams and exquisite natural woodwork, three ceiling fans, a marble floor and folding wood framed glass doors on three sides that can be opened to invite the garden indoors. The room is furnished with a massive deeply cushioned leather sofa, two matching leather armchairs and a stainless steel arched reading lamp. On the opposite side is a 3.6 metre dining table for ten which is lit by elegant green glass and cast aluminium pendant lamps. The table is made of teak recycled from old buildings in Java along with the teak and black leather strap dining room chairs. The ambiance of the living and dining pavilion is enhanced by the BOSE sound system.

The garden has a 16m x 4m metre swimming pool with a non-slip marble pool deck embellished with big pots of lotuses. There is a cool Jacuzzi in a separate section at one end of the pool with a recycled teak table and umbrella in the middle of the Jacuzzi for afternoon drinks and music. The swimming pool features a spectacular 500-kilo reclining Buddha statue carved in Java from hard granite river stone. The Buddha appears to be floating above the water and rests against a waterfall wall of Indian slate.

‘Bale’ Pavilion in Garden

Positioned in a quiet spot on the far side of the swimming pool is a rectangular open-sided ‘bale’ pavilion with BOSE sound system. One side of the ‘bale’ is dedicated to alfresco dining and furnished with another 3.6 metre recycled teak dining table with white metal legs and matching white leather strap recycled teak chairs. The other side is designed for relaxing on a large U-shaped cushioned sitting and sleeping area. A 45” flat screen TV is positioned up on high, making this the perfect spot to laze the afternoon away while watching a live sports broadcast or romantic movie, or enjoying the WiFi internet connection. The bale is also a great place to enjoy a barbeque prepared by the chef. The gas barbeque grill, and cold drinks fridge, is housed in a special unit close by the ‘bale’.

Bar & Kitchen

There are two fully equipped kitchens at Villa Joss, one is the service kitchen and domain of the chef and assistant cook, hidden out of sight at the back, and the other is an open plan ‘show’ kitchen incorporated within the living and dining pavilion. Fashioned in polished black granite with splashes of iridescent blue, gold-&-silver-streaked slate and teak cabinetry, this feature kitchen is equipped with a large two-door fridge, gas hob, cooker extractor hood, espresso machine and other imported appliances. It features a wide island bar, which is lit by green glass and cast aluminium pendant lamps, clad in teak and furnished with three unique handcrafted high stools.

Entertainment Room & Business Centre

The air-conditioned multipurpose room features a high open ceiling with beautiful exposed beams and natural woodwork, a BOSE surround sound home theatre, play area for children and business centre. It is finished with a polished teak wood floor, a trio of blue hand-blown glass lanterns, and folding wood framed glass doors. One half of the room is fitted with an L-shaped built-in recycled teak wood desk that runs along two walls, equipped with plenty of electricity sockets so that guests can plug in their laptop computers and make use of the WiFi internet connection. The other side of this spacious room is furnished with a large comfortable L-shaped sofa and a long floor to ceiling shelf unit full of magazines, books and local artefacts. • Two Personal Butlers, the butlers work in shifts to provide a personal butler service including Food & Beverage as well as accommodating all other guest needs and requests.
• Two Attendants, the attendants work in shifts to attend to all housekeeping and laundry services. They also work cooperatively with the Butlers to serve guests of Villa Joss. The attendants perform the daily offerings throughout the villa in keeping with Balinese Hindu tradition.
• One Gardener & Pool Attendant, the friendly gardener works discreetly to maintain the beautiful gardens and to maintain and test the pool daily without disturbing the guests.
• Four Security Guards, the guards are well-trained professionals hired from the local Batu Belig village to ensure the safety and security of guests and the premises.
